Once

First Hit: I really liked it. I liked the music, the way the music was integrated into the film, and the characters were compelling.

When I leave a theater wanting to buy the music, I know I enjoyed myself.

This is what happened when I left the theater. I went home and looked up the music on the internet. I am not a fan of musicals, however this film did not seem like a musical.

The scenes for the music worked and were integrated. Being a closet wanna be musician, I felt his struggle about getting his music heard. Busking by playing songs people want to hear is very different than playing the songs you long to play, especially when they are yours.

When the night got late and he played for himself you could feel the difference. It is a hard life and he made ends meet by fixing vacuum cleaners and stuff with his father.

Marketa Irglova was enchanting. I wanted to know her. She captured my heart all along the way.

The scene with her dragging the Hoover around town was simply marvelous and a stroke of genius. It fit her wisdom and naivety – perfectly.

Overall: I really liked this film and the music stayed with me for days after.
